Will I still get yelled at in Bootcamp Switzerland?
When you hear the word boot camp, you immediately think of military drills, push-ups and outdoor training. But in 2022, a boot camp is no longer that. There is a new trend emerging when it comes to bootcamps.
What is a bootcamp?
The term bootcamp originally comes from the US military. This was colloquially referred to as basic training. At the beginning of the 2000s, this resulted in a fitness trend that also spilled over to us in Europe. The trainers yell at you and should motivate you beyond your performance limits. The same military drill should be enforced as in the military basic training.
But such bootcamps are hard to find these days. Very few want to be yelled at nowadays. Rather, the term bootcamp means circle group training. More on that in the next paragraph.
What do you do in a bootcamp?
Bootcamps are group training sessions that are completed over a certain period of time, usually several weeks. The participants meet several times a week for this purpose. The training can be carried out indoors or outdoors. Circuit training is practiced. That means there are several stations that are used for a certain time, short break, change stations, for several rounds.
The exercises are mostly body weight exercises or they are trained with small training machines. The following groups can be included in the classic boot camp exercises:
Whole body strengthening exercises:
- push-ups
- squats
- lunges
- burpees
Cardio exercises
- jumping jack
- jogging in place
- jump rope
- squat jump
- box jumps
- shadow boxing
Abdominal exercises
- sit ups
- crunches
- planks
- Russian twists
- slam ball
What can I achieve with a bootcamp?
10 weeks of training – 20 units – 25 hours of sport. The scales have to give way and I can finally reach my desired weight.
Unfortunately I have to lower your expectations. A bootcamp can not work miracles. The bootcamp alone will not help you achieve your desired figure. But it is an ideal introduction to a healthy lifestyle, especially for beginners. Due to the regular training, the exchange with the other members and the time commitment, it offers the best conditions to be active not only for the 10 weeks.
They say it takes about 66 days to form a new habit. Ideally, most bootcamps last about 10 weeks (about 70 days). Here are 5 more tips on how to get the most out of a bootcamp:
- Train independently 1-2 additional times a week
- Eat a high-protein diet after your workout
- Drink at least 2l per day
- Walk 10,000 steps a day
- Go through with it and don’t fall into old patterns afterwards
Who is bootcamp for?
As already mentioned, in a bootcamp you train mostly with your own body weight and smaller training equipment. As a result, there is no heavy joint stress. You decide when your personal performance limit is reached. Also, you don’t have to be physically fit to attend a bootcamp.
On the contrary, it is ideal for beginners in particular. You will see how you improve and feel better with every workout. You should be healthy and have no permanent physical ailments.
The boot camp is best suited for these groups of people:
- Fitness studio card dead – finally a reason to go to the gym and train again
- Training beginners – Ideal for starting fitness training – In good bootcamps, the trainers respond individually to your performance level
- Team athlete – Don’t like training alone? Then off to the bootcamp, it’s much easier to sweat together.
